Pakistan's Mission to the WTO has a new Ambassador

Mr. Shahid Bashir joined the Pakistanís Mission on January 05 2010 as Ambassador and Permanent representative to the world trade organization. Ambassador Bashir succeeded Dr. Manzoor Ahmad. .

Ambassador Bashir is a senior civil servant and has extensive experience of trade negotiations at both bilateral and regional levels. He has worked on Services, TRIPS, Investment and Trade Facilitation. Prior to his assignment as Chief Negotiator for Pakistan in Islamabad, he worked in the Customs administrations of Pakistan.

Mr. Bashir is an ardent supporter of the multilateral trading system and believes that an equitable and free trade regime is essential for developing countries.
Ambassador Bashir is confident that Pakistan would continue to play a constructive role in the multilateral arena.
