G-20 to reinforce its position in DDA through Ministerial meeting in November 2007

G-20, the group of developing countries taking a middle ground position in agriculture, will hold a Ministerial Meeting in Geneva on 15th November 2007. The main objective of meeting is to reinforce its position in the ongoing DDA negotiations in agriculture and strategize for upcoming process until the expected conclusion of modalities early next year.

Ministers from most of the G-20 members are expected to gather in Geneva to issue a declaration, apart from a separate joint statement with other developing countries’ groups, which will give the G-20 perspective for the ongoing negotiations. The group feels that it is high time to reiterate importance of the pro development outcome of DDA and issue a strategy statement keeping in view the negotiations progress in recent past.
