Pakistan's Commerce Ministers leads a high level delegation to participate in the WTO Ministerial Conference

Trade Ministers from around the world are now in Geneva to give momentum to the sagging Doha Round. This seems to be one last ditch effort as it is widely speculated that if the modalities on agriculture and industrial goods are not completed this week, it may not be possible to complete the Round this year or any time in the near future.

Pakistan has been actively involved it the negotiations. At this week's Ministerial meeting starting from 21 July 2008, Chauhdri Ahmad Mukhtar, Commerce Minister is leading a high level delegation consisting of Mr.Abdullah Yusuf, Chairman, Federal Board of Revenue, Mr Zia-ur-Rahman, Secretary Ministry of Food and Agriculture and senior officials from the Ministry of Commerce and Industries.

Pakistan's textiles and clothing industry is anxiously awaiting positive results. If the Round is successfully completed, this sector will be a major gainer. More news will follow over the coming days.
